With the recent changes to COVID-19 Gathering Restriction announced by the State Government last week, the Club Committee has approved the following plan for return of play at the Club. At this point in time, we are allowing ten (10) members/visitors at the Club at any one time. The Committee is aware some clubs are allowing greater numbers at their venues to play tennis.
As the current Directions stand, paragraph 12(a) under Definition of Prohibited Gathering states, a prohibited gathering means “a gathering of more than ten (10) persons in a single undivided indoor space or a single undivided outdoor space that is a public place at the same time.” The Committee has written to the Department of Health for clarification on what constitutes an ‘undivided outdoor space’ and if the Club is able to have a greater number of members/visitors at the Club at any one time. Substantial fines can be levied against the Club and members/visitors at the club if found breaking the Prohibited Gathering rules. Until the Committee receives advices from the Department of Health, the Club is taking the conservative approach with only ten (10) people being allowed at the courts.
As from Monday 4th of May 2020, the Club is making courts available to members for play. All activities must be conducted in strict accordance with the current Federal, State and Local Government and Public Health regulations, restrictions and guidelines.
At this stage, the number of courts will be limited to ensure appropriate distancing and number of persons on the premises.
Please be aware that Members will be solely responsible for their health and safety.
To facilitate the proceedings, Members must book a court via MTC Facebook booking link and follow the procedure set out below.
No-one is to come onto the premises unless they have already booked a court. Even if courts are available, members arriving at the Club without a confirmed booking will be turned away. At this point, the general public is excluded from courts unless they have hired a court. (i.e. no spectators)
Members/ players with a confirmed booking must arrive no more than 10 minutes before their booked time and leave immediately after playing. Members must practise social distancing at all times while at the Club.
Members must provide their own hand sanitiser, which shall be used before and after play.
Members must also supply their own water and tennis balls.
Courts will be available for booking from 8am to 6pm Monday to Sunday inclusive (daylight permitting). No night play will be permitted at this stage. Depending on demand, bookings may be limited to 1-hour duration.
Failure to strictly adhere to the above may well require the Club to return to full lockdown.
1. The Gates shall remain open on all courts.
2. The Clubroom and toilets will remain locked.
3. Emergency use of the outside toilet is to be organised through the Club President.
Court Booking Procedure:
1. Go to Mandurah Tennis Club and click on Book Now Button
2. Select the time slot available
3. In the appointment notes, please indicate names of members requiring the court booking (you must state how many people in total are you making the booking for)
4. The Club will confirm the booking by return message (generally within an hour) and allocate a court number.
Members should not assume that their booking is confirmed unless they receive a return message from the Club.
5. Members should proceed directly to their allocated court on arrival at the Club.
